Oh, What a Wonderful Life!

Poetry Apr 18, 2020

Grass under your naked feet
And twinkling stars in the night sky,
Tell me, what greater joy?

Snuggled in a blanket under the cold sky,
With your only love, there you lie.
Caresses and whispers through the night,
Oh, what a wonderful life!

To taste the salt singing through the air,
On the deck of a ship that’s sailing high.
Tough food but spirited hearts, I hear,
Oh, what a wonderful life!

Stranger how, and stranger where,
In oddest situations we find comfort there.
Beside a warm fire, with your children and wife,
Oh, what a wonderful life!

Blood thirst and battle and deaths every day,
But somewhere a newborn just cried his first cry.
And when you get a letter of rejoice, you say
Oh, what a wonderful life!

Disease may be cured, or not, some fear,
But in essence we all are fleetingly here.
Those who know it all will chime,
Oh, what a wonderful life!

Crazy how, and crazy where,
Possibilities lie like a diamond rare.
So grab the chance and dance in the light!
Oh, what a wonderful life!
