DJS Antariksh is the official Rover Challenge team of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering. The Team aims to participate in namely two major challenges, European Rover Challenge and Indian Rover Challenge. The year 2019-2020 is the foundation year for the team. The team not only comprises of students from EXTC department but also from other departments of the college. The team aims to participate in all the rover challenge competitions.

  • Motto:

To Decipher Unimaginable: The motto clearly highlights the Team’s perspective to build next generation Martial Rover and decipher many Martian secrets.

  • Vision:

To design an exceptional rover that is highly efficient and multifunctional by
mastering science and technology with significant progress

  • Mission:

To deliver outstanding performance in the field of space exploration and sustain
an enriching environment through diversity and teamwork.

Participating Competitions

Team DJS Antariksh aims to participate in the following competitions for the upcoming Academic year:

  1. University Rover Challenge (URC 2021)

This Event will be organized from 3rd - 5th June 2021 in Utah, USA. .

  1. European Rover Challenge (ERC 2021)

ERC will be held in the 2nd week of September 2021 in Poland.  

  1. International Mars Hackathon (2020)

This event is a 2-day hackathon which will be held from 31st October – 1st November 2020. The event is a virtual event.

Achievements

  1. We have secured Overall 3rd Position globally.
  2. Won the Best Science Planning award among all teams in ERC 2020
  3. First ever Asian and Indian team to have made it in the Top 3 teams in the history of European Rover Challenge (ERC 2020)
  4. Also, this is the first time a team from our college has achieved a podium finish in their debut year in an international competition.

Competition Summary:

European Rover Challenge (ERC) is one of the best and prestigious Robotics competitions worldwide. It is the annual international Martian Rover competition attended by teams from around the world. The competition has been organized since 2014 in Poland and is held in the 2nd week of September annually. ERC 2020 was conducted from 11th – 13th September 2020. ERC 2020 was made virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the events were conducted remotely.

The events were as follows:

  1. Science and Navigation task: The rover in Kielce University, Poland had to be controlled remotely. The rover had to reach 5 waypoints in the MarsYard (simulated Mars environment) and collect evidence for the science mission in a time limit of 40 minutes.
  2. Maintenance Task: The team had to control a 6-axis robotic arm and actuate a switch panel.
  3. Presentation Task: The team had to present the overall management approach during the pandemic.

Prospects for the Future

We further aim to participate in various similar rover challenges like IRC and URC. DJS Antariksh has laid the foundation stone for developing a Technology Driven Rover that would contribute to space exploration and surely would bring laurels to college
