Summer is officially here, and we at DJ Lit bring to you the quarantine version of sun drenched stalls, and drippin’ finger-lickin’ ice lollies: we present the Lit MELA! Join us for some 24 hours or so as we navigate the virtual ins and outs of this carnival, with events from trivia quizzes to movie marathons and write-a-thons and everything in between.

INK IT! A 24-hour Write-a-thon

Are you a storyteller at heart, looking for the perfect opportunity to share your story with the world? Or are you a writer looking for an exciting challenge?

For the Dickens, Rupi Kaurs, Stephen Kings and the writers-blocked writers in you, DJ Lit presents: INK IT! A 24-hour Write-a-thon! Here’s giving you all a chance to explore far and wide, think hard, and come up with a work of writing based on our prompts in just 24 hours! Let your creative genius flow and register now!

Rules:
• The prompts will be announced on our Instagram handle and sent to the participants WhatsApp group at 6 pm, on April 17th
• Submission of your work will be taken through a google form which will close at 6 pm on April 18th
• Maximum 2 entries will be allowed per person.

Do you thrive in fast-paced environments and strongly believe in the power of 'Jai Mata Di'? Do you have the sharp reflexes and devilish wit it takes to win?

Then get on board, get ready for the most thrilling fun-filled face-off ever! This event at the Lit Mela is sure to leave you in splits: What the Fluke! A DJ Lit spin-off of the original, hugely popular Steve Harvey television game show Family Feud, sure to test your wits and take your quick-thinking skills to a whole new level!

When? Time: April 17, 9:30pm to 11:30 pm

Rules:
• Individual participants allowed.
• Number of Rounds: 3 including eliminations after each round.
• Participants have to guess the most popular answer to generic questions (answers of which have been decided through audience polls)
• The correct guess will get maximum points and the number of points will decrease as the popularity of the answer decreases.

Cards Against Humanity (Mini Mazzein)

Tired of playing the same old generic games? Looking for something more risqué?We've got you covered!

Taking you back to the good ol' days, we bring you a spicier, more interesting, and totally unfiltered version of “Fill in the blanks” - Lit's Cards Against Humanity.

When? April 17, 12 am onwards
Where? The Lit Mela Discord Server*

Rules:
• Individual event
• Number of Rounds: 3 including elimination after each round.
• The Card Czar reads the question or fill-in-the-blank phrase on the black card out loud. Everyone else answers the question or fills in the blank by choosing one white card.
• The Card Czar reads each card combination out loud to the group. The Card Czar should re-read the black card before presenting each answer. Finally, the Card Czar picks the funniest play, and whoever submitted it gets one point.
• After the round, a new player becomes the Card Czar and everyone draws back up to ten white cards.

The Late Night Lit Live (Mini Mazzein)

Grab your tubs of popcorn and channel your inner cinephile as you tune in to our after-hours movie screening of all our favourites, from underrated to straight-up iconic. As an iconic movie professor said: "Carpe diem. Seize the day. Make your lives extraordinary."

The Words and the Bees

Are you the grammar nazi in your friend group? Do wrong spellings of words irritate you? Then DJ Lit has an event exclusively for you!

Presenting: The Words and the Bees! A spell bee with a twist you wouldn't want to miss. Put your knowledge of spellings to the test and register before we can say onomatopoeia!

When? April 18, 11am to 12pm
Where? The Lit Mela Discord Server*

Rules:
• Number of Rounds: 3 including elimination after each round.
• 30 secs will be given to the participant to give the spelling
• A microphone test of each speller will be taken before the event begins.
• The speller can ask the pronouncer to repeat the word if necessary.
• The judges determine whether the word is spelt correctly.
• If the spelling is incorrect and the speller next in the line will be asked to spell the word.
• If any speller is found adopting any kind of unfair means like googling the word, he/she will be disqualified.

Scribble (Mini Mazzein)

A good ol’ fashioned classic — except this time, it gets trickier — with more chaos, more craziness and special brownie points for the quirkiest, most artistic masterpieces of them all. Get your competitive side on and unleash your wildest creative genius. It’s time to get literary crazy!

PuchaKya?

Are you really passionate about something that might never come up in casual conversation? Do you care about it enough to create a whole PPT for it?

Then welcome to DJ Lit's very own twist on the hugely popular storytelling format Pecha Kucha! A presentation format originating from Japan and centred around "more show; and less tell".

Here's your chance to share your quirkiest passion; from "how to make the worst smoothie" to "why the first child is always an experiment", all of the world’s topics are at your feet. So get that thinking cap on, channel your inner catharsis and activate that creativity surge - as we dive into the crazy and colourful world of Puchakya.

Rules:

• Individual event
• Participants must make a presentation that is to be submitted 2 days before the event commences.
• The presentation should contain not more than 20 slides and no NSFW topics are allowed
• The presenter will be allowed to elaborate each slide for not more than 15 seconds. The total presentation should not exceed 5 minutes.
• The fewer the words in your PPT, the more points you’ll get
• Winner will be decided based on polls.

• Participants have to solve clues given to them in a PDF, which will lead them onto another PDF.
