5G - The Next Big Change

Interesting Nov 12, 2016

5G. It is indeed going to be the next big thing that is going to dramatically change the world. Things that we have only heard about in science fiction, is all going to be a reality pretty soon. The reason behind this change – 5G

We already are quite familiar with the 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The 2G network enabled people from different parts of the world to be in contact with each other via text messages. Then arrived the 3G wireless network which enabled everyone to make phone calls, send text messages and browse the net.

Currently the latest wireless network that is being used all around the country is 4G. This network is an enhanced version of the 3G network. It gives people the ability to make calls, send texts, browse the web as well as upload and download large video files without much hassle.

The new 5G network which is a trending topic all over the world is slated to release in 2020

5G stands for ‘Fifth Generation’. It will continue enabling people to call, text, browse, download, upload and a lot more. The only difference between 4G and 5G is that the downloading and uploading speeds are significantly high in 5G (up to 100 gigabits per second, which is a 1,000 times faster than 4G!) So you can be able to actually download a movie in a matter of seconds. Everything will be significantly faster. But that’s not all, the 5G wireless networks will not only be used for computers and mobile phones, but it will also be used in other gadgets like mp3 players, microwaves, cars, washing machines, etc.  So don’t be surprised when you hear that driving will not really require a driver to be seated in the driver’s seat and press the accelerator! The smart 5G network will automatically cause the car to start and get all the information about traffic so that it chooses the best path for faster arrival. Your home will be smarter with the help of 5G network. So you might just have to command the tube lights in your home to turn on or off. Or talk to your TV to record your favourite show. Or talk to the refrigerator to check whether you have stuffed everything in your fridge. Medical sciences will also improve dramatically on the arrival of 5G network. So surgeons can perform surgeries on patients even when they are not in the surgery room.

All these extraordinary facilities that 5G shall provide may make everyone wonder whether the 5G network will be expensive. But according to Huawei and Nokia, the 5G prices will be somewhat similar to the 4G prices, to the people’s advantage. It might even become possible to download a 3D movie in a matter of seconds! The latency (time required to transfer data from one device to another) will be as low as 1 millisecond.

5G will indeed make our lives easier. Currently, 40% of the world avails to the 4G services. 5G services will be made available on a large scale. More people will be able to connect to the world in the coming future.

So let us all look forward to this great change that will happen all over the world. Let us hope that the world becomes a better place with 5G
